Jul 23,  · Oftentimes the word pop is used to disparage artists. Not The Pipettes, however; they wear their pop sensibilities on their sleeves on their debut, WE ARE THE PIPETTES. Even better, they mine a deep vein of classic 60s pop, from the surf rock of the title track to the sweet ballad of "Judy."/5(19).

We Are The Pipettes is a modern indie pop album, and a classic one at that. Having made a splash in the US with a sold-out club tour in June, a wave of early press from South By Southwest and beyond, and the EP/single release for Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me, The Pipettes are now poised to bring their timeless pop hooks and synchronized stage /5(53).

WOW. As much as I *LOVE* this album, I am really disappointed and saddened by the sound quality of the vinyl LPs. I bought the US edition on vinyl and the sound quality was so lousy and overcompressed that I spent the extra cash to get a copy of the original UK version of the LP/5(39).

When it comes to guys, The Pipettes praise the kinky ones (Dirty Mind), roll their eyes at the clingy ones ("One Night Stand"), and dismiss the boring ones (ABC). Some guys are spineless pushovers ("Why Did You Stay?") and others are annoyingly coy ("Tell Me What You Want")/5(54).

Just when you thought they didn't make 'em like that anymore, Brighton's Pipettes emerge with this debut album to prove you wrong. With hooks and looks borrowed from the golden era of Phil Spector, the Pipettes, it seems, are on an admirable mission to re-establish the concept of the girl group, and there are, undoubtedly, some true gems on We Are the Pipettes: the mid-summer single "Pull 8/

‘We Are The Pipettes’ is an album written by teenagers for teenagers. An album that understands the heartbreak of leaving the disco alone (It Hurts To See You Dance So Well), tells stories of befriending the school’s outcast (Judy) and the older boyfriend who only wants one thing (Sex).
